Relational. Curious. Creative.

Dr. Brooke Moore (EdD) has served in public education in many roles for nearly two decades. She is currently a District Principal in Delta Schools and an Adjunct professor at UBC. Throughout all these experiences and learning, Brooke’s central motivator is a sentiment she first learned of from the Network of Inquiry and Indigenous Education: that all students cross the stage with dignity, purpose, and options. Recently she has co-authoured Sorting it Out: Supporting teenage decision making (Cambridge, 2024) and the Decision Maker Playbook. Brooke lives with her partner and two children on Tsawwassen and Musqueam land.

Faves on my bookshelf

I always have a book on the go and it’s tough to keep this list short, let alone super short. If you think I’m missing a really good one, please let me know. Happy reading!

Leading Through Spirals of Inquiry

I love this book because it uses story and research to show how people with the spark to wonder “what if” and the perseverance to follow through can make big improvements – systemically and individually.

Wayi Wah! Indigenous Pedagogies

This book answers – with compassion and urgency – the questions so many educators (especially those curious about their privledge) might want to ask but haven’t yet.

Embedding Formative Asessment

No matter how far I go I always come back to this classic.

What Happened To You?

I listened to this title as an audio book and also read the text. I recommend both. This book offered me compassion for myself and others as we look at how to move forward in a world where mass trauma is evident.
